Hi All,

Well the weekend just past had us travelling to the far south of Victoria to Hedley. Rounds 7&8 of the Australian Offroad Championship were run and won and Josh and Mitch had a cracking weekend in the toughest of conditions.

Wild weather and previous rain had the tracks looking like a mud pit but the Corner Inlet MCC had managed to put together some great tracks to ensure the weekend would proceed.

With a 10 week break from the last rounds, both boys had been training hard on and off the bike to make sure they turned up ready to tackle the last 3 weekends of racing over the next 2 months to decide the championship winners.

Josh turned up to the weekend to try and take off out front where he started at the first rounds when he broke his wrist. He is finally 100% fit and proved dominant not just in the J3 class for both days but also winning the No 1 spot overall of all juniors both days. Unfortunately his championship points tally starts from zero after the first 6 rounds but is already up to 6th in the points count after the weekend and is hopeful of as many round wins as possible for the rest of the year.

Mitch has been training on and off the bike so he could try and close the gap between first and him in the J3 championship. With only Josh in front of him for the weekend. Mitch managed a second place finish in Saturdays 2 hour Xcountry and again in the Sunday sprints in J3 class. He also took 2nd junior ourtright Saturday and 3rd Sunday which was a fantastic effort and great reward for all his efforts. He now has a great lead in the championship points and is keen to keep it that way.

Both boys have been gaining valuable knowledge and skills from doing some training with Off road ace Jarrod Bewley over the year and are hoping to continue to improve for the remainder of the year and into their final junior year in 2017.

None of the boys success would be possible without the great support of so many great businesses, Family and friends. We thank you all for your help and support and look forward to the next rounds of the Australian and NSW Off Road Championships in Dungog, NSW in 3 weeks.

Here is the latest news, from the final rounds for 2016 from Mum Bec,

Hi All,

The final rounds of the Australian Offroad Championship have been run last weekend in Penshurst Victoria. Record rains in the area meant for some more than challenging conditions on a property that would have been the best event of the season. The land owners and local clubs worked tirelessly to ensure the event could still run dealing with flooded creeks blocking off half the tracks prepared for the event. The decision was made to run Sprint format racing for both days and only one loop for all classes was available.

Mitch and Josh were keen to get the tough conditions behind them but both struggled to adapt to the deep mud and rocky base making too many mistakes to keep their times down. Saturday had Josh battle to hold 2nd place in the J3 class and Mitch placed 8th in the J3 class holding a slender lead in the championship going into Sundays racing.

Sunday was the final rounds racing and conditions had not improved. Both boys were keen to finish the year on a high but things just didn’t go there way. Josh suffered two separate incidents where his chain derailed losing valuable time for the day finishing in 4th place. Mitch was riding well and working hard to hold onto the championship. Riding hard to keep ahead he unfortunately ended up off the track and in a creek on the 2nd last sprint losing over 10 minutes to dewater and restart the bike to finish. This had Mitch finishing the day in 9th place making the championship points lead a nail biter.

Sunday night saw the Australian champions crowned for 2016. Unfortunately Josh was out of the points race with his broken wrist at Round 1 missing the first 6 rounds of racing. He did though manage to come back and take 3 round wins, 2 seconds and a fourth which was a great effort and reward for his hard work all year. Finishing the J3 championship in 5th place. Mitch’s struggle for the weekend unfortunately took its toll on his points lead with him ending in a great 2nd place by 2 points in the J3 class. His super consistent year was a great reflection of his hard work.

We would like to thank all those amazing people and businesses that help the boys go racing to achieve their dreams and goals. Without all of you it would not be possible. The Kawasaki KX250f’s have been a super fast and reliable bike and we look forward to trying the 2017’s. Bikebiz and their suppliers have kept us going all year with great products. Both boys are looking forward to a break from racing, having some fun at the farm and some club motocross events with their mates before they get back to working hard to be ready for 2017 where they will compete in their final junior year and hope to bring home the wins for all.

Thanks All,

Josh#103 & Mitch#124.
